A little about me...
I am Stephen East, a highly experienced and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner with over 14 years of experience in helping people overcome a range of psychological difficulties. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience working in various settings, from Primary Care to luxury rehabilitation centres, and I have been offering online therapy for the past six years.
As a CBT therapist, I help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and work with them to develop more positive, adaptive behaviours. My compassionate and supportive approach is designed to help clients rediscover direction in life and build self-esteem. For trauma-focused work, I often use EMDR, a highly effective NICE-recommended therapy that uses eye movements to process traumatic memories and reduce associated symptoms.
I have specialized interests in a range of psychological issues, including Panic Disorder, PTSD, OCD, Health Anxiety, Addictions, Trauma, Depression, Insomnia, Low Self-Esteem, Anger, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Additionally, I am a clinical supervisor and guest lecturer for Teesside University, where I train and mentor trainee CBT therapists.
I hold a range of qualifications and professional memberships, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Level 1 & 2 EMDR certification from EMDR Europe. As an Associate for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO) and a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, I am committed to providing the highest quality of care to my clients.
